About the Practice
We are now able to begin scheduling flu shots for all of our patients. We were able to obtain some multi-dose vials of trivalent flu vaccine prior to our original order shipping (which is not expected until November) and this is allowing us to open up our flu clinics.
The CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics advises that the trivalent and quadrivalent forms of the vaccine are equally effective for this year’s flu strains.
We will have several dates to choose from, including some evening and Saturday appointments. We know that our phones are going to be very busy so we ask in advance for your patience. We will get everyone scheduled and vaccinated as quickly as possible.
We would like to inform all patients that for children over age 24 months they may receive flu vaccine with the preservative thimerosal. We do not believe that this is a risk to our patients. Here is a link to the CDC for more information on flu vaccine: www.cdc.gov/flu.
The available presentations in our office currently are:
- Flu Mist – quadrivalent, preservative free, live vaccine that is available for healthy children age 2 and older.
- Injectable Flu – trivalent vaccine, which contains a small trace of preservative for children age 2 and older.
- Injectable Flu – prefilled syringe, quadrivalent, preservative free for children under age 2.
At the present time we do not have any preservative free vaccine for children over 2. We will receive this shipment towards the end of November.
Our group practice is comprised of pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners with expertise in caring for patients from birth through adolescence. We are committed to providing personal and quality care for your child.
As a practice we know that preventive care including vaccinations is the most important part of our service to our patients and families. To best protect your children, our other patients, as well as our staff and providers from vaccine preventable illness, we have made the decision to only accept families into our practice who plan to fully vaccinate their children according to the CDC/American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. The full pediatric (birth - 18 years) schedule is available by clicking here.
Our office telephones are answered 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
As a group, we have worked together to form a similar and consistent style of practice. We work closely with families to build supportive, trusting relationships so together we can help children reach their fullest potential. We believe in the importance of preventative care and educating families about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. We are committed to being here for our families no matter what the concern or when it may arise. For further information about our office, please contact us.
