About On-Demand Urgent Care Video Visits

We are pleased to offer on-demand video visits for certain types of care! If you need care now, there's no need to schedule an appointment ahead of time and wait a few days to be seen. Follow the instructions below to request your on-demand urgent care video visit in the next 10 minutes to 24 hours. IHA's team will confirm your on-demand video visit and match you with an IHA Urgent Care provider who will address your needs.

Video visits are an alternative to in-person appointments. Your insurance company will be billed for your video visit, and you may have a co-pay. Contact your insurance company for coverage information. As with an in-person appointment, no-show fees may apply.

On-Demand Urgent Care Video Visit Instructions

To prepare for your On-Demand Urgent Care Video Visit
  1. If you will be using a smartphone or tablet, download the Zoom app. You do not need to create a Zoom account. Ensure that your device will have a reliable connection at the time of your scheduled video appointment.
  2. If you will be using a laptop or desktop computer, ensure that you have a reliable internet connection, a compatible browser, and a webcam with a microphone. You do not need to download the Zoom application. Recommended browsers are Chrome and Safari.
  3. Consider using headphones with a microphone for better sound and privacy.
  4. Plan to be in a quiet room or a private space with good lighting. Your provider will discuss personal health information, and others nearby you may be able to hear.
  5. Try to arrange for a support person to help you in case you run into any technical issues at the time of your visit. This could be a tech-savvy member of your household. If you don’t have anyone to help, don’t worry! We will do our best to help you connect.
  6. If you have a thermometer and scale, please record your weight and temperature shortly before your appointment.
  7. If you have a skin issue such as a lesion or rash, please have a flashlight ready to help your provider see your skin and measure any lesion ahead of time if possible.

During your On-Demand Urgent Care Video Visit
  1. A few minutes before your visit time, click on the link that is sent to you by your provider. When your provider is ready to begin your visit, he or she will admit you from the waiting room.
    • If the visit is for a pediatric patient and the parents are in different places but would both like to join the visit, alert your child’s provider at the start of the visit. The provider can admit both parents if they are both in the video waiting room.

Our On-Demand Urgent Care Video Visit Technology

We’re making it as easy as possible for you to have a great video visit with your provider while keeping your appointment secure and private.

We use a professional, HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom with the following features:

  • All video and audio is encrypted on the sender’s end and only decrypted on the receiver’s end.
  • The appointment cannot be recorded on our computer or smartphone, on your computer or smartphone, or in the cloud.
  • No one can join the appointment until the provider specifically admits them from the Zoom Video Waiting Room. People in the waiting room don’t know who is in the appointment or who else is in the waiting room. They see only the waiting room screen and don’t hear anything.
  • Everyone in the appointment is notified by a sound whenever anyone is admitted or removed.
  • The provider can send anyone back to the Video Waiting Room or remove them from the appointment at any time. They can also mute anyone at any time.
  • Only the provider can share their screen (for instance, to show you your X-ray).

To use Zoom on your smartphone, you need to download the app. To use Zoom on your computer, it can be easier if you download the app, but you can also run Zoom in a browser (Chrome or Safari preferred). You do not need to create a Zoom account.
